Don’t be fooled by "inexpensive, easy to use" bleach (sodium hypochlorite) based deck and wood cleaners. Bleach based products are effective against mildew, but do not remove dirt, stains and other surface contaminates. Not only is bleach ineffective in removing dirt and surface contaminates, it will leave your wood with a pale, leached-out, unnatural tone. Bleach is too harsh to use on wood and actually does more harm than good. Bleach will soften and break down the wood fibers which will lead to poor adhesion and premature failure of any coatings or sealers. Also, bleach and the chemicals in water repellent coatings are not compatible. By cleaning with bleach, the durability and life of a coating will be greatly reduced. In most cases, by more than 50%. New England® Deck & Wood

New England Deck & Wood Products provide an extremely durable, long lasting stain for use on all exterior wood decking, siding, fencing and outdoor furniture. This exceptional stain is easy to apply and resistant to scuffing and fading. As with any stain, the ability to penetrate the wood is key to long term performance. Unlike acrylic (latex) deck stains which have a large particle size, resulting in poor penetration, New England Deck & Wood products exhibit superior penetration because of its ultra fine particle size and unique core/shell structure. This unique resin produces a flexible film that repels water, helping to prevent cracking, splitting and warping of the wood.

To prevent graying, which is caused by the sun’s ultraviolet light, New England Deck & Wood Transparent Finishes provide unique, 3-way ultra violet light protection. New England Transparent Finishes contain U.V. light absorbers which absorb U.V. radiation directly and convert it to harmless levels of heat energy which are dissipated throughout the coating. The U.V. light stabilizers are effective against the onset of chalking, as well as delaying the rate of chalking once it starts. U.V. stabilizers take U.V. light in and distribute it equally throughout the coating. Transoxide pigments are added as well, which provide improved protection over more traditional iron oxide pigments. The sub-micron size of transoxide pigments give improved light absorption and do not degrade like typical iron oxide pigments

In addition to it’s unique resin, New England Solid Color Stains are formulated with DuPont® Zonyl® Fluoro Additive for an extremely durable, long lasting stain for use on all exterior wood decking, siding, fencing and outdoor furniture. This exceptional stain, with DuPont® Fluoro Additive, is easy to apply and resistant to scuffing and fading. Most exterior stains are formulated with wax which only gives temporary “beading” properties. Unfortunately, wax is quickly worn and/or washed away–unlike DuPont® Zonyl® Fluoro Additive which continues to migrate to the surface for long term protection.
